Action Communiterre
Cultivated by a diversity of neighbours, friends and gardening enthusiasts, the Victory Garden Network is a place where people come to learn, grow and share with one another. Gardeners use organic practices, divide the harvest among themselves and share a portion with other neighbourhood groups.
We are dedicated to raising public awareness about food security and urban agriculture, while improving the community’s access to healthy organic produce through collectively-managed vegetable gardens and other urban agricultural projects in the Montreal area. Ten organic gardens bring local residents of diverse social and economic backgrounds together to garden, learn about food issues and share a portion of their harvest with the community. Five of our collective gardens are animated by knowledgeable staff that provide a variety of activities and workshops on subjects such as: Organic gardening, Preserving and increasing biodiversity, Recycling & composting, Seed-saving, Balcony gardening, Nutrition, Medicinal plants, Environmental protection and empowerment in food security, Democratic life, Community involvement and the politics of food
We invite you to come join us in the garden, or start something growing where you live. Together, we can build healthier neighbourhoods and more equitable, sustainable food systems.
